How rankings work
Leaderboards rank students by their VEYDEX Score, which rewards being right consistently, not just once.
The VEYDEX Score
Start with your average excess return across all your closed calls. Then we shrink it toward zero if you don't have many calls yet:
Score = average excess return × n ÷ (n + 10) n = number of closed calls
Why shrink it?
One great call might be skill, or it might be luck. Ten great calls are much harder to fake. The shrink factor means a small number of calls can't rocket someone to the top.
- With 1 closed call, you keep 1 ÷ 11 of your average (about 9%).
- With 10 closed calls, you keep half.
- With 40 closed calls, you keep 80%.
Example
One call at +30% scores +2.73%. Forty calls averaging +3% score +2.40%. The steady record ranks higher.
Who appears on the leaderboard
- You need at least 3 closed calls.
- Only closed calls count. Open calls are shown on your profile but don't affect your score yet.
- Calls closed early count exactly like any other call.
Tabs and filters
- All time: every closed call you've ever made.
- Last 12 months: only calls that closed in the past year.
- You can filter by school and by horizon (for example, only 1-month calls).
Win rate
Your win rate is the share of closed calls with a positive excess return. It's shown next to your score but isn't used for ranking, because a few big losses can matter more than many small wins.
